Online Success Part 1

We all know SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, but what does that mean, exactly? Why do so many business owners spend thousands of dollars and hours a week devoting themselves to this thing called SEO? Why is every other email I get a spam message telling me my site needs to be optimized? Why doesn't my new iPhone work anymore? Woops, scratch that last one, I don't want to talk about it :(

Online Success Part 1

Do you really know what SEO Means? Do you care? (You Should!)

This Not-So Simple Question has a pretty easy answer - since search drives traffic online, your website needs to be "optimized' for the search... that was deep :)

I have observed that today's business owners want to see their website high in the rankings on Google for one reason - TRAFFIC. Unfortunately, these unsuspecting go-getters bought the lie that it's Traffic that leads to sales. But that's not true. You could get a million hits a day and it won't amount to one extra sale if you don't "CONVERT" that traffic.

You see, SEO is more than just getting a website to show up in Google, it's about creating a website, or web page to be specific, to show up specifically for the right  keywords and for the right visitors. It's about building QUALITY (not quantity) traffic. Then, it become an ongoing process (never ending) of optimizing the website's visitors experience so that when they actually do visit your site, they either make decision to purchase or contact you for more information.

In short, SEO isn't as much as getting found, but Finding the right visitors.

It's time to stop thinking of in terms of the past.

For the past few years, the playing field for websites has pretty much been Google, Yahoo, and MSN (now Bing!), and maybe a couple other local search engines here and there. But today, the game has officially changed! (It actually changed a couple years ago - so this is a wake up call!)

To be perfectly candid, search seems to have gotten weaker lately, not stronger. Instead of getting better, websites are getting worse. Instead of growing, websites are falling off the map. And, instead of businesses adopting new inbound marketing techniques (aka seo), they are running back to yellow pages or paid search hoping to just get back to where they were last year… Sound familiar?

So, let's re-define the "SEO" word we used earlier… Ultimately, the "JOB" of SEO is to drive traffic, not a rank in Google. Quality traffic = customers! It's just that simple.

Let's Get Started!

The game has changed, we see that - and the new Social Marketing tools of today's internet will make you or break you as a company. Social tools like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn are revolutionizing the way people interact, and the way they do business. Very simply put, if you're not in the "Social" network, you're not really in business - or you won't be for long.
